Writing a Book Review

Hi to everyone!

We’re slowly adding a book review feature to all books at Spirituality Bookshop. This is obviously a slow process but we will endeavor to have a review feature on every book available by the end of April 2010! Well that’s the plan anyway!

It will be pretty simple to leave a review, and any feedback on what we have provided in terms of function is, as always, very well received!

Everyone should start seeing a review option below each books dedicated page soon. If you would like to leave a review in the meantime it is possible using the Contact Form on the website.

Customer reviews are an integral part of our website and something we value a great deal.

Here are a few tips and suggestions if you are thinking about contributing with a Book Review at Spirituality Bookshop.

Genuine Book Review

• Your review should be a genuine review of the book, discussing the quality of the book and your opinion of it. Make your review as informative and detailed as possible. The best reviews include not only whether you liked or disliked the book, but also why. Feel free to mention other books you consider similar and how this book rates in comparison.

Writing to a Friend

• While you’re writing, try thinking of your reader as a friend to whom you’re telling a story.

Theme of the Book

• Try to get the main theme of the book across in the beginning of your review. Your reader should know right away what he or she is getting into should they choose to read the book!

Short Quotes

• Try using a few short quotes from the book to illustrate your points. This is not absolutely necessary, but it’s a good way to give your reader a sense of the author’s writing style.

Decisions Decisions

• Another good way to approach writing a book review is to imagine that you are deciding whether to buy a particular book: what information could you put in your review that might help other customers with this decision?
